Chick-fil-A and Drag: a match made in heaven...

Lately in the news there's been a lot of talk about how The Jim Henson Company has decided not to continue their partnership with Chick-fil-A ever since it became known that the company was anti LGBTQ rights.  Lots and lots of pictures of The Muppets publicly denouncing the fast food group and standing up to declare where their loyalties lie.  Good on you, Jim Henson Company!

As an Australian, I have no idea who Chick-fil-A are, or how popular they might be, but I just find it really strange that a fast food group would be anti anyone!  But surely the nature of their business is to sell as much greasy, heart attack inducing food products as possible to the masses.  Why on earth would a commercial chain purposely alienate 10 percent of the population, to say nothing of those who support them?  Greedy fast food commercialists?  You're doing it wrong, dudes!

But hey, if they want to be so stupid as to ignore the first rule of business (the customer is always right), then that's their choice.  I'm guessing that this public shaming by The Muppets isn't going to do much for their image.  I mean jeez, when Kermit, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear are telling you you're stupid and they don't want to play any more, that definitely sends a message to those of us who were raised watching them.

Honestly, when I see things like this I can't even get angry anymore.  I suppose it's because I know they're just dinosaurs, roaring and stomping around, slowly but surely dying out.  But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy someone taking a crack at them.  Personally, I think this Youtube video makes a rather fitting fuck you.

  1. I thought the same darn thing...why in the world would a fast food chain be anti-gay? As if they have a right to be anti-anything. I mean, they are fast food!

  2. My 16 year old son works at Chick-fil-A. They are a Christian based organization, which I'm guessing is why the founder made that ridiculous statement, because he believes marriage should be based on the biblical terms between a man and a woman. Not my views, but whatever!!! They sure do have the best chicken nuggets around!!! Oh and they are not "fast food", they are a "quick service" restaurant. LOL!!!!

  3. I LOVE that the Jim Henson folks did that. I for one don't eat fast food but I definitely won't give my money to any business that doesn't support equal rights for everyone. I don't care if they make the tastiest chicken on earth. No chicken is tasty enough to me to pay for some old weathered small minded owner to spew small-minded things.

  5. I think it's kind of "funny" that when one group stands up for what they believe in, they are "stupid" and "outdated" and "evil", but when another group stands up for what they believe in (usually the opposite view) they are revered.

  6. If Chick-fil-A's owner wants to alienate millions of potential (or former) customers, let him. It doesn't seem like good business sense to me, but then again, I've never owned a chain of fast food (er, "quick service") restaurants.

Of course, the Boy Scouts of America's stance makes even less sense. They're an organization supposedly dedicated to "building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society" but they purposely exclude people just because they don't like them. It doesn't seem like conscientious, responsible behavior to me, but then again, I've never been a hypocrite.

  10. You know what... No one's really missing anything at Chick-Fil-A. Once would think waffle fries would be better tasting. They aren't. They taste like racism and homophobia, oddly enough.

    Hugs!

  11. Did you see the safety recall the Chick-a-phobia had released on the muppets toys? Lame. I would think that it would be the same if Red Rooster did it here

  12. Before I stopped eating meat, I heard about how great Chick-fil-A is, and all I could think about was tasting their burgers. However, the nearest location was a few states away. A few years ago, a Chik-fil-A popped up in Sacramento, but I heard about how much they hated the fabulous gays, so I never got to taste the chickeny goodness they offer. Oh well.

  13. From someone in a committed relationship with a fabulous woman, Thank You! Chick Fila is a Fast Food Company. Not politicians, or legislators. Even if they were, their views would be ugly, narrow minded and full of ridiculousness.

  14. I'm glad the Jim Henson Company is taking a stand on this!

Sadly the anti gay sentiment probably helps buisness in some parts of the USA. and though they say 10% of people are gay, you gotta think theres probably lots in the closet, so it might be more like 20-30%!

Great video! Someone needs to take scenes of the muppets and dub in that song! It would be so cool!
