It's so important to plan ahead when deciding to undermine your siblings in your parent's will...

Most people who know me are well aware by now just how much I love morbid things.  The more macabre the better as far as I'm concerned!  So when SmashGirl over at SmashMosiacs [link] forwarded me a link saying that I just HAD to go look at it, I knew I was in for a treat.

And I was definitely right!  Seeyourfolks.com [link] is website set up to work out just how many more times you'll get to see your parents before it's time for them to shuffle off this mortal coil.  Cheerful, huh?  You plug in how many times you see them a year, how old they are, and it works out how many more visits you can look forward to based on their average life expectancy.

Given that I try to see my parents at least once a week, but sometimes life gets in the way, I averaged it out to 40 times a year.  I plugged the figures in, the calculator did it's thing, and it spat out an estimate of 620.

Okay, that's not too bad.  That should give me more than enough opportunities to white-ant my brother out of the inheritance.  Make myself look good, slowly erode their faith in him.  You can't rush these things, so it's good to know I've got another six hundred plus opportunities to subtly make him look bad.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding!  Relax, I'm not going to try and con my brother out of his share of the inheritance.

I'm pretty sure Mum and Dad plan on spending everything before they die anyway.

  2. Well, my faith has already decided that my sister and me get only half of what my brothers would get from my parent's wealth or worldly possessions.

  3. We are doing our best to spend all of our money prior to our deaths. Doesn't a swimming pool sound nice? LOL

    1. You've got to do it slowly! If you push too hard they might get suspicious!

  5. Since our parents have already died, I put my age (78) & my husband's (81) & the number of times we see our kids a year. It said that we should already be dead!!

  6. LOL! I've seen some ugly fights over inheritances. Fortunately my parents died with nothing, so we didn't go through anything too traumatic! Have a good one!

    1. That's probably for the best. So many families end up feuding over wills.

  7. Yes, I've seen that link on teh interwebs but haven't had the nerve to test it out. My Mom is 88 and in a nursing home. I'm scared the response would be "one."

  8. I'm trying to follow my parents lead and work it so that I take my last breath just as I spend my last dime. Sorry kids. ;)

  9. That's almost like gambling on a death pool.

  11. Awww man, I only get 11 more times with my folks! My sister is totally going to screw me out of the inheritance. I want that silver and fine china so bad. Maybe I'll one-up her and offer my parents sanctuary at my place when they start getting feeble and grant myself power of attorney. Boom, a plan is hatched.

    1. You definitely want to get that power of attorney sorted out early. Don't want anyone claiming you took advantage of them when they were feeble.

  12. I get over a thousand. And since I roughly estimated 65 times a year, that's like...more than 10 years. (It's too early for math.)

    1. One should not attempt maths before 2pm. Take my word for it, I'm an accountant.

  13. My husband and his mom both had birthdays this month. With vacations and other family stuff, his mom and dad haven't had us over for Rick's birthday yet, but we've already celebrated hers, which falls later. She apologized to Rick, but he just teased and said, "Don't worry about celebrating my birthday. I've got a lot left. But you've only got what? Three years? Maybe four if you eat a bran muffin every day? We can't afford to skip one of yours."

Luckily she shares his sense of humor!

  14. Interesting, but a bit sad for me as we live overseas, see family only every few years and they are up in age. I guess this is just good opportunity for my sister.

  15. My dad was a policeman and he has 7 kids with three different moms. There's nothing for me to weasel out of anyone. Although, I am his favorite, and that just makes my siblings crazy. Which might be better.

  16. All you have to do is wait until they start complaining about arthritis or something and then mention that YOU'LL send them to the good retirement home. All that inheritance will go to you, then you'll spend it all on PAYING for that good retirement home, while your parents chuckle all the way to the tennis court and indoor swimming pool.
