I like to think of myself as a relatively liberated woman. I was lucky enough to grow up in an era where girls were told "You can be anything you want to be" and constantly reassured that we were just as good as any boy out there.
Of course, the fact that reassurances like that were still necessary probably dates me more than I'd like, but I still count myself lucky...

If only I could get someone to cook for me 24/7 I'd be happy mate. All that bread is gonna cause him to get constipated... And what happens to the relationship once they reach 300? Divorce time or more sandwiches?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. Maybe she graduates to making him pot roasts?
DeleteSo 300 to get the engagement ring.. How many to get to the alter and to have children, or a dog, or a cat or a new outfit, car, handbag, house??? What a catch. I'd throw him back, order some Chinese take out and buy my own damn ring!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like a lot of effort given she could just go into a jewellery store and buy a ring herself, doesn't it.
DeleteOkay, and she wants to be engaged to this charmer.... Why? Tell him to grow the hell up and make his own damn sandwich.
ReplyDeleteShe's trying to pass it off a "cute", but she's not really convincing anyone.
DeleteFirst it's 300 sandwiches, then it's 300 milkshakes, then it's 300 back rubs, then it's 300 BJ's......... the girl may nevah get her ring.
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem with bartering food for precious metals and stones, I'm afraid.
DeleteAnd she actaully WANTS this dud? I don't get the attraction. But like you said, to each his/her own.
ReplyDeleteS
It does make you wonder why though, doesn't it.

Welcome :D
DeleteThis doesn't sound like a match made in heaven. I can't believe that she is comfortable sharing the anecdote that her boyfriend chastised her for being up 15 minutes and hadn't made him a sandwich. Clearly he is a putz but she is an enabler...a desperate one at that. After 42 years of marriage, I thought I had heard a lot of relationship stories but that one should be categorized as "cautionary".
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good word for it.
